*Las Vegas Development Trends Press Release - The LVCVA will create a press release detailing notable construction, expansion and remodeling projects that have either been announced or are currently underway in the first half of 2017. The trend release, aimed at highlighting ongoing growth in Southern Nevada, will be distributed to national, international and local media outlets. USA Today 10 Best (UVM 1M) - Lois Alter Mark, USA Today 10 Best travel contributor, will visit Las Vegas with one guest, September 6-9 to write a 1,000-word feature on the destination. The online roundup will highlight Las Vegas’ new and unique offerings, with a focus on activities travelers can experience outside of gambling. The FAM will showcase the evolution of Las Vegas through music, art and food and highlight how the destination has become a modern incubator for creativity. For the online feature, Lana will write a Las Vegas foodie round-up featuring the move towards farm-to-table focus, high-end dining and internationally acclaimed chefs, and an entertainment round-up of the hottest shows in Las Vegas. Anticipated coverage is around 5-7 pages slated to run in September. The group consists of a model, photographer, journalist, hair and makeup stylists, and will be accompanied by an LVCVA Japan representative. *Ippou - In partnership with Air Canada, Ippou will visit Las Vegas July 4-6. Ippou is a popular evening news program broadcast in Tokai, a secondary region in Japan. The program targets men and women 55 and older. It has kept a #1 viewing rate for the last 8 years within Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd., one of the biggest TV/Radio stations in the region. Four crew members will visit the destination to introduce Las Vegas and other cities as an accessible destination from Japan. Extra TV Partnership - The LVCVA has secured a year-long partnership with Extra TV. The daily, nationally-syndicated program showcases the latest news and events in the entertainment industry. Kicking off January 2017, we will highlight Las Vegas as the "Entertainment Capital of the World" through 40 Vegas-focused segments. This opportunity is open to all resort partners and will showcase various property offerings including: culinary, entertainment, attractions, events and more.   Las Vegas Names Historic First NHL Team  

 

On Nov. 22, it was announced that the new Las Vegas NHL team will be called Vegas Golden Knights. The name was revealed during a special event at the team’s Las Vegas’ home, the T-Mobile Arena, by majority owner Bill Foley, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and the team’s general manager, George McPhee. Lucky Dragon Opens Its Doors

The Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino will officially open its doors on Dec. 3. The property is Las Vegas’ first casino resort to deliver an authentic Asian lifestyle experience. Four New Outlets to Open at the LINQ Promenade

The LINQ Promenade—Caesars Entertainment’s open-air dining, entertainment and retail district located at the center of the Las Vegas Strip—is opening four iconic brands during the month of December. The beloved Hawaiian company, Honolulu Cookie Company, famous for its premium shortbread cookies in a signature pineapple shape will make its Las Vegas debut. Town Square Welcomes a Variety of New Dining and Shopping Retailers

Several new retailers and a dog-friendly restaurant are now open at Town Square Las Vegas just in time for the holiday shopping season. Whiskey Pete’s Unveils Major Renovation

Old West-themed Whiskey Pete’s Hotel and Casino unveiled a $3.5 million renovation of its 248-room property. Among the changes are new wallpaper and fixtures, new bathrooms, upgraded beds and carpeting, and modern furnishings and appliances. Located in the Primm valley south of Las Vegas, this marks the first major renovation done to the property since opening in 1973.
